UNDERSTANDING THE FIVE STAGES OF FILM PRODUCTION. (THE PRODUCTION PROCESS) BY OBI HART OKEKE  (ANMD)

As a FilmMaker trying to produce a job, you must firstly understand the five fundamental stages of Film Production. 

Film production is created into 5 Phases.

1; Development
2; Pre Production
3; Production
4; Post Production
5; Distribution.

But here in this part of the world (Nigeria) Film Productions are usually  based on this 3 Major phases. Which are;

1; Pre Production Stage.
2; Production Stage 
3; Post Production Stage.


I will basically talk on those 3 Phases because of the area  we find ourselves and not to engage in any likely Argument by some Producers here in Nigeria, that were only taught about the 3 Phases of Film Production. 

Who is a Filmmaker?
Another word for a Filmmaker is a producer.
A producer is a person who oversees Film Production, either employed by a production company or working independently.
A producer plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, employing the Director, editing and arranging financing.

What a producer do?
1; A film begins and ends with the producer.
2; Raise the Money for the job.
3; Hire a Director.
4; oversees Pre- Production to the post Production.


Let's get back to the 3 Phases of Film Production here in Nigeria.
1;Pre Production- Where scripts are amended, budgets are adjusted, Actors are casted, location, crew.

2; Production- This is stage where the vehicle hits the road. Where the main job is shot.
3; Post Production- This is the stage where the footage is edited, sound mixed, effects added, soundtrack, Etc.
