"How to become a successful Film Actor" By OBI HART OKEKE ( ANMD)

So many people are into this Film  business but many are not successful.

Why is it so? Because they have not really sat down to ask themselves on why they want to act Movies.

Anything you do in life, the primarily purpose or aim is for you to achieve success and achievements in that Field of endeavor,aside that,there is no tangible reason for you being in that field.

Anything you do in life,

If you are not successful, meaning you have not really understood the purpose of your calling in that area,or Field.

Why do want to be an actor?

So many people want to act films because their friends are into acting.

Others want to act, because they want to appear on television, YouTube, so as to be seen.

Someone told me, she wants to act films because she wants to make money out of it to support her poor parents.

You see that, there are so many reasons why everyone  wants to act. But there are also people that would say,I have this burning desire in me,that propelled me to go into acting.

It could be the films they watched or some great Actors that movitated them.

In all these,let us look at what acting is all about.

What is Acting?

There are several definitions of the word ' Acting' which I would like to difine just a few of them.

Acting, is an activity in which a story is told by means of it's enactment by an actor, who adopts a character in a story and displays it as of he/ she is the main subject.

Acting is the acts of playing different fictitious roles in a stage, Radio, tv or Movie, which the actor, He/ she knows it's not a reality.

There are so many other definitions to it, but I will take the last one. 

Acting can be defined as living truthfully under imaginary circumstance.

So, if you as an actor, suddenly becomes conscious when the camera comes on you or your voice automatically becomes Shakey and it began to sound to your own hearing like that of a stranger, your not in character but nervous.

If you have not digested your script very well and you're wondering why you're delivery is not smooth, my dear, you not in character.

If you find yourself playing character B, when the script actually demands you play character A, you're problem is interpretation.

There is a big difference between interpretation and delivery.

As an actor, you can miss your lines maybe ones or twice but if it becomes frequent, then your problem is study.

There is a big difference between studying your script and cramming your script.

So, for you to bring a character to live successful, you must live it and not act it...

Mind you, in one of my definitions, I said that acting is living truthfully under imaginary circumstance.

All you need to do is work hard, to get in, and also work hard to stay in.

Who, is an actor?

An actor is a person who portrays a character in a performance or movie.

Mr John was robbed. The question is how was Mr John robbed?

As, an actor, you give a direct experience on how it happened, so that the viewers will have a direct experience on how it occurred.

What an actor does is giving a direct Experience than the narrative.

So, as an actor who wants to be successful, you must have aboundant talents.

But, is aboundant talents just enough to be successful Actor?

It's not enough, because film business is an elitic business.

So, you need some basic skills and training/leaning to succeed.

God has given everyone talents depending on your level,But even at that, we need to develop it and embellish it.

An actor must refine the talents in him/her to be successful.

Can anyone, be an actor??

Yes, everyone can be an actor because talent is native to Man. 

God gave us talents depending on our degree and strength.

Just know this, what suits you well as an actor, where you could do better...

But in all try to be versatile.

What are acting roles?

Acting roles are like clothes,

What Fits A  might not Fit B.

For you to be successful, you must have  goals.

What are your acting goals?

 If your able to define your goals, you will succeed in this business.

Tips on becoming a successful Actor.

1. Study your script and make it your character ( Part of your life)

2.Always do a monologue, ask someone to film you, them watch what you have done.

3: practice your line until they becomes your second nature.

4: put yourself in the shoes of your character. 5. Learn every day( No learning is a waste)

6. Attend acting classes,

7. Read the entire script 2-3 times and understand the story and your character in the script.

8. Don't give up.
